Carol’s Story
I became interested in lifting weights after spending the better part of two years unable to perform simple tasks such as doing the laundry, shopping for food, or taking out the garbage without going into debilitating back spasms. I worked my way back to good health with the help of a skilled physiotherapist and a highly educated Personal Trainer. I’m over 50, and look forward to years of hiking, dancing, sports, and keeping up with the grandchildren.
For five years I visited my father in a nursing home. I saw so much unnecessary suffering. I became determined to help others stay healthy, active, and independent for as long as possible.
As a certified Older Adult Specialist, I now train people who cannot stand, who cannot get down on the floor, and who cannot sit. I am partnered with a physiotherapist whom I consult on a daily basis. I am creative in working around injuries, and in rehabilitation.
During my first career, after graduating with a degree in law and a Masters in Business Administration, I enjoyed working in advertising and marketing. I got dressed up every day, and made television commercials and print ads for well-known brands. I feel fortunate to now have a second career, which I am equally passionate about, and where I can make a real difference in people’s lives.
It is my passion to keep people out of the nursing home. It’s my job and pleasure to make it fun.
